Policy & safety

At Beach Timber Company, safety is more than a policy. It is a core value that guides everything we do. We are committed to providing a safe, productive work environment through awareness, accountability, and the prevention of workplace injuries and illnesses.

Beach timber company safety statement

It is the policy of  Beach Timber Company to provide safe and productive work environment for each employee and at every level through awareness and prevention of occupational injuries and illness. Safety for us and all others is an obligation of employment.

 

Safety is not an option; it is a condition of employment at BTC. There is nothing we do that is so important that we put the safety of ourselves or others at risk. You have the right and obligation to BTC to refuse to do anything that you consider unsafe. Safety is everyone’s number one priority and will not be compromised.

Beach timber Policy for all truck drivers during loading & unloading operations 

All truck drivers will exit the cab of the trucks wearing the following REQUIRED PPE:

 

Hard hats, safety glasses, high vis vest, long pants (no shorts) and safety boots (steel toe or composite toe safety boots), hearing protection and stand 50 feet to the front or side of their trucks.

Procedure for truck drivers when loading/unloading:

  1. When unloading at the de-barker, the truck drivers will exit their vehicle and stand under the operator cab of the de-barker

  2. With all other trucks during loading/unloading operation in other areas of the facility, the drivers will disembark from their cabs and will stand 50 feet in front of their vehicles in an open area in full view of the area and away from traffic

  3. If the driver cannot stand in a safe area to the front of the vehicle, then the driver can move to a safe area to the rear of the vehicle 50 feet away. The driver will stand in full view of the area and get away from traffic

  4. Loading/unloading at framing yard – Stand a minimum of 50’ in front of their Truck

  5. Loading/unloading at the green yard – Stand near the end of our Rail spur out of the way of tractor traffic 

  6. Loading/unloading by CCA Stock – Stand 50’ away in front of OR 50’ to the side or rear of truck depending on flow of traffic at the time

  7. Loading/unloading at the bundling station and Kiln 4 area – Stand 50’ away in front of OR 50’ to the side or rear of truck depending on flow of traffic at the time

  8. Loading/Unloading of Containers- Stand 50’ away in front of OR 50’ to the side or rear of truck depending on flow of traffic at the time
